Measurement is broken. Cynicism is not a flaw—it’s a necessary skill. This blog is for the analysts, strategists, and truth-tellers who know that “data-driven” often means “context-starved.”
Welcome.
Most dashboards are built to impress, not to inform. They’re full of metrics no one understands, tracking things no one needs, and driving decisions that no one questions. That’s not insight—it’s analytics theater.
This blog is called Measurably Cynical because that’s what I am. I believe in numbers—but I believe in asking where they come from, what they mean, and who benefits from their misinterpretation.
Here’s what you won’t find here:
- Hype about “AI-powered” anything without method.
- Obedient reporting of ESG scores, reputation rankings, or sentiment lifts.
- Praise for measurement without impact.
What you will find:
- Case files on companies who got it wrong (and those who barely got it right).
- Measurement theory, mental models, and frameworks worth stealing.
- Sharp takes on headlines and analyst nonsense (heavier on the nonsense than is probably healthy).
Cynicism, here, is a form of integrity. Let’s hold measurement to its own standards.
The opinions found in this blog should in no way reflect those of my employer(s) past, present, or future.
